The Artwork

Royalties are paid to the Aboriginal artist for this original design.

Waterholes – Kuukili
The featured artwork, Kuukili, was created by contemporary Indigenous artist Brooke Sutton, a proud member of the Kalkadoon people from Mount Isa in Queensland. Kuukili translates to “Waterholes” in the Kalkadoon language.

This artwork captures the essence of Country’s strength, resilience, and beauty. Each small dot represents nourishing rain as it falls upon the earth, while the circles symbolize the Kuukili — waterholes that begin to fill and overflow, connecting across the land in a continuous network of life.

The flow between these waterholes reflects unity and endurance — the interconnectedness that sustains the land and its people across generations. It is a story of abundance, renewal, and the enduring cycle that defines Kalkadoon Country.

At Koru Apparel, we honour Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) by sharing these stories respectfully and ensuring artists are recognised for their contributions.
